How To Shine In Front Of People:
From Stage Fright To Spotlight! Update: This class rocked! It will be available soon for purchase as an mp3-- let me know if you want to be notified when it goes up! ~Anna
Confidence in front of a group isn't an inborn talent.
It's a skill, and I can teach it to you.
You know that dream where you try to talk and all that comes out is a little whisper?
That used to be me. IN REAL LIFE.
I was the shy girl who blushed if someone even looked at me. Ironically, now I make my living with my big mouth. I've performed in front of audiences numbering thousands; I've MC'd corporate, charity, and fashion events with hundreds in the crowd; I've done stage, radio, TV, and film. I've gotten really comfortable delivering other people's words for them. In fact, the hardest thing for me now is to stand up in a room with 20 people in it and talk as myself about things I care about. So last year when I did that very thing, I made mental notes of all the techniques I've learned as an actress that help me to channel my pre-speech butterflies into fuel for a powerful talk. That's right, I'm afraid the jitters don't go away. But I can teach you to USE them to make
your presentation more impactful, more authentic, and more fun.
This class will be useful for anyone who wants to feel more comfortable talking out loud, whatever the context. It's my love letter to anyone who has ever had something to say and been afraid to say it.
The class will cover:
- The jitters, and how to USE them
- Warm-up tips that professional actors use before a performance
- Why your presence is more important than your content
- How to banish the wild banshees in your mind and calm the heck down
- Why you must never apologize
- How to channel Oprah (or President Obama, or JFK, or whoever you admire)
- How to keep the shake out of your voice and hands
- How to be heard even if you have a soft voice
- Energetic (magical/woo-woo) tips that make you dazzle
- Nuts and bolts: microphones, cameras, audiences, and technical difficulties
***Special Bonus***
At the end of the class, I will share my
top-secret magic ingredient for shininess.
It works, kids, and not on your hair.
Why I think you should take this course from me:
The bad news is, the butterflies never go away completely. The GREAT news is that I will show you how to channel that nervous energy. It will become the FUEL that powers a charismatic, magnetic, and unforgettable talk.
Stars like Marilyn Monroe and Bette Midler might have been born shinier than most, but they also learned to tune their wattage up and down at will. I'll help you tap into your own resident star power and then ramp it up.
Keep in mind, I used to be debilitatingly shy:
Now I RELISH the spotlight. My years as a stage actor and MC taught me some very practical skills, and I will teach them to you.
This class is not really for actors or professional speakers, though they're certainly welcome; it is for ANYONE who wants to feel more at ease when talking out loud, whether that's in a conference room, PTA meeting, or cocktail party. (Or, in an arena filled with thousands of cheering fans. That too.)

What is a Telecourse?

The entire class, including your questions and comments, is recorded. The investment includes an mp3 of the class, which will be sent to you by email within 48 hours of the class, so that you can review and practice at your leisure...like oh, say, the night before that big pitch.
