Giving birth is generally considered a medical occurrence, or at the most a physical and emotional rite of passage.  But it can be much more than that.  It can, in fact, be the defining moment of a woman coming into her power.  I want to work with women around the world to reframe the birth experience as an initiation into the power of motherhood.  Mother animals are notoriously fierce, and human mothers are no exception.  If we nurture this power, channel it, and support it, then the intense primal love and protectiveness mothers feel for their infants could become the most potent tool the world has ever seen.  Giving birth can light up a woman, unleash something in her, and connect her to the global community.  Tragically, for too many women it becomes a frightening event that happens to them, leaving them with emotional wounds and a profound sense of powerlessness.  This impacts their parenting and the shape of their entire family’s life.  This is not about natural versus medical childbirth; it’s about honoring the birth experience as the most profound juncture point in a woman’s life, a limbic moment when humans stand on the brink of death and life and peer into its most powerful mysteries. 

I provide a space for women to tell their birth story, and we use life coaching techniques to retell even painful stories as tales of heroism and triumph.  Your love for your child, coupled with a sense of your own incredible power as proven by the act of giving birth, can be the fuel for a transformative urge to heal the world one household at a time.
